RS3 plugins beta: Quest Helper, the Plugin Hub and how to try it

How to enter the RS3 plugins beta, install and enable the first five plugins, and choose a fresh or imported save.

Community plugins are running inside RS3

The plugins beta opened on October 6, 2026. It gives players a first look at community-made tools inside RuneScape's own client, including Quest Helper, Menu Entry Swapper, Tilemarkers, Entity Hider and Job Gauges.

Behind those tools is the RS API. It controls the game information a plugin can access and the interface features it can use. Quest Helper, for example, needs to know your quest progress to show the right next step.

I wanted to jump into the beta to try it for myself. What excites me most is the prospect of players building little tools around their own routines and sharing them with everyone else.

Enter the beta with the save you want to use

Jagex's beta announcement has separate launch links for the Jagex Launcher and the standalone RuneScape client, plus instructions for Steam. Use the link for your client to enter the beta. Membership is not required.

The beta starts you with a fresh save. You can instead choose Import Save in the beta lobby to copy your live account's progress. If you want to try Quest Helper on quests you've already completed on your main, try the fresh save before importing.

For Steam, open RuneScape's Properties from your Library and use the beta launch command in the official instructions. The beta world is world 204. To return to the regular game, close the game and launcher completely, then launch normally again.

Install a plugin, then enable it

Open the RS Plugin Hub using the toolbox icon on your ribbon. On the default modern interface, hover over Settings to find it. On a custom ribbon, you may need to edit the ribbon to make room for the toolbox.

The Hub lets you browse, install, manage and uninstall plugins. Installing alone does not turn a plugin on: open the Manage tab and enable it there. You can also report issues through the Hub.

The first five plugins

The first batch is deliberately small so the team can test the system before adding more. The October 6 launch announcement lists Quest Helper with support for 69 quests.

  • Quest Helper guides you through supported quests. After enabling it, open the Quest panel and right-click a quest marked with a star to start the helper.
  • Menu Entry Swapper reorders right-click options so the action you use most can become the default left-click.
  • Tilemarkers marks positions you want to return to. Hold Ctrl and Shift, then right-click a tile to mark it. Repeat on a marked tile to change its colour or label; right-click the minimap to share the visible markers as a preset.
  • Entity Hider hides selected characters and creatures, including other players, familiars, conjures and spiders. Its settings also let you choose specific entities.
  • Job Gauges groups combat resources and cooldowns into overlays for your combat style, making them easier to follow during a fight.

What comes after the first beta

At launch, the API was still limited to the participating developers. Jagex planned to open development more widely after testing, while continuing to moderate plugins submitted to the Hub. More plugins were planned in batches.

The launch beta is in English, and plugins are not yet available on mobile.

I expect we'll see familiar Old School ideas first, then tools that fit RS3's own activities. I've already got ideas I'd like to make.
