RuneScape MTX item removal: what to use before November 23, 2026
The announced removal deadline, Well of Restoration, retained exceptions and changes to common banked MTX items.
The deadline and the two final opportunities
Jagex's September 24 announcement set November 23, 2026, before that day's game update, as the final deadline for the remaining MTX-item cleanup. Items are being removed, revised or retained according to the published list.
The announced sequence is a November Double XP event, followed by a shorter Well of Restoration event. Double XP is intended as the last opportunity to use the affected skilling items for their normal purpose. The Well will let players donate eligible items and currencies for a set amount of GP.
Items marked for removal that remain after the Well ends will be automatically converted to GP at a lower rate. The September announcement did not give the exact event dates or conversion values; those details were due in the November Month Ahead. Players who log in during the Well event will receive The Restorer title.
The large skilling-item removals
Proteans are going, including their resources, packs, processors, prolongers, power-ups and chest. Combat and skilling dummies and their processors are also on the removal list.
Pulse cores, advanced pulse cores, cinder cores and knowledge bombs are being removed. Portable skilling stations are going too, with the Luminite Injector retained because it already has a gameplay source at the Artisans' Workshop.
The Brooch of the Gods will lose its portable-station effect, and Jagex said that effect would not be replaced. Silverhawk boots, feathers and down are also being removed.
Other bank items to check
The wider removal list includes deathtouched darts, Distraction and Diversion reset tokens, Slayer wildcards, dwarven tools, old Treasure Hunter lamps and stars, restored artefact replicators and Fixate recharge tokens. Fixate itself is staying and will recover charges normally.
Dungeoneering token boxes and cash bags will have their contents claimed directly to accounts. Future reward sources will give the currency directly instead of another box.
Check the official item-by-item list for smaller promotional items and currencies.
What is being retained
Radiant Stars purchased through the Marketplace are not affected. Soul Reaper Refreshes, Luminite Injectors, Mimic Kill Tokens, Summoning Focuses and Spirit Gems are also being retained.
Slayer masks and the Spring Cleaner are staying while their mechanics or functionality are reviewed. Jagex wants the Spring Cleaner focused on Invention, processing items and recovering materials.
Items that change
Slayer VIP tickets are being removed in their current form, with Jagex assessing how their task-selection function could fit normal Slayer progression. Normal and tight springs will be combined into one retained version, as will magic and enchanted notepaper.
Lucky weapons and equipment will become cosmetics. Dragon and metallic dragon trinkets will lose most bundled benefits, while their teleport functions remain for now. Several promotional wearables, including clover necklaces, skilling backpacks, the Aurelian cape and butterfly jars, will keep cosmetic versions after their effects are removed.
Life Refreshes are being removed, and Jagex said it also planned to remove Marks of War. The effect on the Sign of Life was still being discussed in the announcement.
Decide what you will actually use
Check the affected items in your bank and separate the ones you want to use from the ones you would rather donate.
I've got hundreds of Slayer VIP tickets on my Ironman, and I cannot see myself using all of them before the deadline.
